Darrell Shideler

Darrell's favorite video is "Project Amigo Volunteer."

Mr. Shideler is a Certified Financial Planner with Thrivent Financial and began his financial services career in 1977. He has served on numerous local boards and has been president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors - California as well as the San Jose Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Mr. Shideler has been involved with youth sports programs for over 20 years and has served as the Head Softball Coach for Leland High School.

Andrew Ratermann

Andrew's favorite video is "Green Screen Special Effects in iMovie."

Mr. Ratermann currently serves as a school board trustee for the Santa Clara Unified School District (Santa Clara, California). He is a Masters in Governance Graduate from the California School Board Association. He has served in many positions with the Boy Scouts of America and is currently a Vice President for the Silicon Valley Monterrey Bay Council. He serves on the Government Relations Committee for the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the Chamber's Pyramid Award for The Individual Member of the Year in 2008. He is the Club Administrator for the Santa Clara Rotary Club. He is a past commissioner on the Santa Clara Historical and Landmarks Commission and a graduate of Santa Clara Leadership. He serves in a variety capacities for a number of small non-profits and city committees including the City of Santa Clara's General Plan Steering Committee. Mr. Ratermann owned and operated several successful businesses and retired in 1996. He has served on the boards of four different corporations.

John Lozano

John's favorite video is "Cause and Effect."

Mr. Lozano is currently a Resource Specialist at a Kindergarten to 8th grade school in the Moreland School District (San Jose, California). Most recently, he is working with teachers to improve instructional strategies with the integration of technology in the classroom. He holds a BS in business administration with a minor in philosophy from Humboldt State University. His graduate degree in educational administration is from Harvard University, where he focused on administration, planning, and social policy. Mr. Lozano has spent twenty years in public education, working in a variety of settings and with students of all income and ability levels. He was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship in 1999 to begin working with Japanese colleagues and has coordinated innovative programs connecting local schools to partner schools in Okayama, Japan. He previously worked as a high school and district administrator in the Silicon Valley. He has also been an adjunct professor in San Jose State's College of Education's Educational Leadership program, where his courses covered community development, educational leadership, and strategic planning.

Jeff Ota

John's favorite video is "My Name Is Michael."

Jeff currently is a Senior Principal Engineer at the Intel Corporation and leads research and development teams in sports technology, augmented reality, and autonomous cars. His expertise is in using computer vision and video as inputs into autonomous control and analysis systems. In the education field, he served as a school board trustee for the East Side Union High School District (San Jose, California) from 1998-2002 and on the Metropolitan Education District board as the East Side Union representative. He also has coached youth basketball for more than 10 years and is active again as his sons are taking up the sport. Jeff passionately believes that video-based instruction created by a variety of producers (students, teachers, engineers, etc.) has the power to reach and educate students that the traditional process miss. He sees video as an opportunity to tell a story that has the power to educate and inspire in as little as 90 seconds.
