A Pound(ing) of Mochi
Do you like sweet foods? If so, you would probably like Japanese mochi.
Mochi is a ball of chewy, sweet goodness made from beating the daylights out of a particular kind of rice. There’s more to it than that, of course, but if you’ve never watched a master at work, you can fix that by watching this video, called Pounding Mochi With the Fastest Mochi Maker in Japan.
Clearly, to make all this work, the guy without the hammer needs to trust that the guy with the hammer won’t change his timing.
What do you trust that others will do each day to keep you safe? What do others trust that you will do?
Share ideas with some classmates, and see how many different answers you can think of.
