Love and Sacrifice
Would you put yourself in harm’s way for those you love?
In this story, you’ll meet Sakae Kato, a man who decided to stay in the Fukushima area after the 2011 tsunami and nuclear accident. Why? Because, as he sees it, no one else was prepared to stay and help those in need: the cats that had been abandoned when people evacuated.
If you were a family member of Mr Kato, what would you say to him to try and get him to leave for safety? Could you say something unexpected that might persuade him?
If you were trying to help him without putting yourself in harm’s way, what might you do?
